Afandou is a more relaxed, laid-back resort for avid sun worshippers, slightly more restrained than its neighbouring resort of Faliraki, it is ideal for those seeking a quieter place to enjoy the pleasant temperatures whilst still having access to many of the amenities of the island.
Once a very traditional farmers village set in a rural Rhodes, Afandou has now developed into one of the more sedate resorts boasting one of the longest sand & shingle beaches, still uncrowded but with many water sports for the more active.Afandou has its own local train service from the main square to the beach running every hour.
The resort has a fun, friendly atmosphere with a good selection of bars, tavernas, restaurants and supermarkets. Night owls will be pleased to find one disco here, but if the occasional desire to dance till dawn grips you, Faliraki the party magnet is only a short taxi ride way, 5km.
For golf enthusiasts, set between the beach and main village is the Afandou 18 hole, par 72 golf course.
